ACTOR / WRITER / PRODUCER
WENDELL LAURENT is the writer, co-producer and lead actor in the multi-award winning short DAYBREAK, a spy-thriller that pays homage to classic screwball comedies but with a contemporary twist. He is originally from New Orleans where he received his B.A. in Theatre and Communications from Loyola University. Wendell has been active in the New York theatre scene since 1990, having produced four Off-Off-Broad-way shows as the Producing Director of RECKLESS THEATRE COMPANY. In the last five years, he has acted in over 20 film and TV productions, including a starring role in the upcoming indie feature AN EXTRAORDINARY AFFAIR. In 2019, Wendell returned to the stage in the NEW CIRCLE THEATRE COMPANY’S production of Simon Fill’s new play BURNING CITIES. His current project is co-writing the screenplay HAVANA COWBOY with Benjamin T. Orifici. (imdb.me/wendelllaurent).

Like many a native of New Orleans, one of my favorite sayings is "Laissez les bons temps rouler!" (“Let the good times roll!”). But far from being a hedonistic cry to “eat, drink and be merry,” for me the saying is a call to live life to the fullest! This motto continues to inspire my creative life in New York, whether acting or producing for stage or screen, doing graphic design for MAGIS MEDIA or singing with THE IGNATIAN SCHOLA.
My recent return to my first passion, acting, has afforded me opportunities to appear in over 20 film and TV productions. I'm very excited to have written and acted in my first short film, DAYBREAK, which won the SPECIAL MENTION Award, Short Film Category, at the 2020 CHELSEA FILM FESTIVAL and won BEST COMEDY and BEST LGBT at the Jan. 2021 CANNES WORLD FILM FESTIVAL. Thanks again for checking out my website. I look forward to working with you! ---Wendell Laurent
